"Sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." - Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland
What am I studying? I studying Architecture at the University of Cincinnati! Where am I from? I can't define my hometown as one place. I am from Dublin, Ohio (Not Ireland!) but was born in Guangzhou, China and spent my formative years in Wuhan, China. At the age of four, I moved with my parents to the States and have lived in Ohio since then in the Columbus area. Who am I? I am the oldest child of three; I have a younger brother and sister who I miss dearly now that I don't have the privilege of being with them every single day. I believe that Family comes first and would do anything for my siblings. I'm terrible at throwing away "junk" because I want to create from it; I don't have perfect pitch but I love playing the violin and fiddling; I can't fry an egg but I am determined to learn how to make cake pops for my brother. I crave interesting conversations; I'm eager to learn. Who do I want to be? To be honest, I have no idea. I love design, and studying architecture makes me happY (<---e.e.cummings, The Little Horse is Newly <did I mention I love poetry?>) and that is affirmation enough. I believe in the power of design to change and shape lives. I have four + years to figure this out, so why create a rigid vision of my future when I have no way of predicting what will happen tomorrow? Why Carroll? I hear a voice that is not afraid of confrontation and exploring the crazy. He reminds us that dreaming is a choice. Through this learning portfolio, I hope to explore the possible, and hopefully, venture into the impossible as well. |
